Syria Moving Scuds Into Lebanon 2010
"It's increasingly hard to argue that the engagement track has worked," the Journal quoted Andrew Tabler, a Syria analyst at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, as saying.

1991 Scud Attack on Israel
Mamram, the Hebrew acronym for Central Unit for Data Processing, is the IDF's main computer corps, and trains all military software programmers and network systems architects. Its headquarters, tucked discreetly on a busy street in the commercial Ramat Gan neighborhood of Tel Aviv,
Ramat Gan (just north of Tel Aviv) suffered the most in the war – 3 or 4 attacks – due. to the location of strategic military buildings there. None of the missiles hit a building directly, but always fell in the open. The only damage was to property.
CONCLUSIONS
Given the number of missiles fired, casualties in Israel at first glance appear to be very low compared to what might be expected based on previous ballistic-missile attacks.
Since the Coalition attacks on the launchers forced the Iraqis to launch primarily at night (and probably also reduced both the number of missiles fired and their accuracy), they played an important role in reducing casualties despite the fact that they apparently destroyed relatively few of the Iraqi mobile missile launchers. For this reason, there may be benefits from attempting to attacking missile launchers even if these attacks are not highly successful.
A possibly related factor is that there were apparently no injuries in Israel from shrapnel produced by the warhead explosions.87 The Scud explosions apparently produced only small numbers of large fragments. It is unclear whether this was by design, or whether it was due to some flaw in the warheads. 87 Karsenty, et. al., "Medical Aspects," p. 606.
The situation with respect to property damage is more complicated. Theodore Postol has published a translation of a compilation of damage to buildings that appeared in the Tel Aviv newspaper Ma’ariv.6 According to Ma’ariv, 2,797 apartments suffered damage before Patriot (254 per missile) and 9,029 after Patriot was operational (334 per missile). Much of the damage to apartments was very light (such as broken windows). If only apartments that were seriously damaged or destroyed are counted, the figures are 40 per missile before Patriot and 34 after Patriot.

In November 2009, the Israeli Defense Forces claimed it seized the German ship Francop carrying 36 containers with 500 tonnes of Katyusha rockets and grenades destined for Hezbollah.
during the war of 2006, Hezbollah fired an al-Nour missile (more than six meters long with a range of 200 km) into an Israeli warship, killing several of its crew and sinking the vessel. The al-Nour is a sophisticated missile crafted by the Iranians while based on a Chinese model.
Opting to supply Hezbollah with more powerful weaponry would fit in with a recent pattern in which Syria appears to have adopted a "triumphalist mindset," wrote Steven Heydemann at the U.S. Institute of Peace.
Bernard Kouchner, France's foreign minister, expresses concern over a "stockpile of weapons" in the Middle East, accusing Syria of supplying Hezbollah with Scud missiles. "There is a stockpile of weapons, short-range, medium-range and perhaps even long-range missiles and we are concerned,"
"We flew thousands of missions to try to destroy Saddam’s Scuds which he was firing at Israel and Saudi Arabia. After the war we discovered we had missed every single time," Bruce Riedel, former CIA officer and fellow at the Brookings Institution.
"Early in the Lebanon campaign, the Israelis were able to target and destroy Hezbollah's intermediate and medium-range missiles," Beaver said. "It's hard to hide a Scud. It requires an erector launcher, refueling trucks, a panoply of equipment."
British defense analyst Charles Heyman said Scuds would be easy meat for Israel's military. "Within three or four minutes of a launch, the whole area would be an inferno of high explosives from counter-battery fire."
Ahmed Salkini, a Syrian Embassy spokesman in Washington, called the reports "a blatant fabrication and disinformation campaign by Israel aimed at raising the level of tension in the region and creating a pretext for possible offensives in our region."

"In return, Syria along with all Arab countries as seen in the Arab Peace Initiative have promised a normalisation of relations... so it is land for peace."
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Ca.), chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, says she thinks there is a “high likelihood” the missiles were sent to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“I believe there is a likelihood that there are Scuds that Hezbollah has in Lebanon. A high likelihood,” Feinstein told the AFP.
“The rockets and missiles in Lebanon are substantially increased and better technologically than they were, and this is a real point of danger for Israel,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California told Agence France-Press.

Shortly after 1000 hours the south tower of the World Center collapsed. Within the next half-hour, the northern tower of the World Trade Center also collapsed.
At approximately 1730 hours a third tower in the World Trade Center complex, Building #7, also collapsed. Wednesday evening, September 12, another building within the World Trade Center Complex collapsed. No additional casualties are expected due to this. However, it may make recovery more difficult.

For most of the past 30 years, as the gay rights movement has progressed and as Catholicism has undergone profound shifts, a gay Catholic has found herself with a growing conflict but not entirely a contradiction. The church never taught that gay people were somehow evil, and it told us in 1975 that the homosexual condition was not in itself sinful. A distinction was drawn between being gay and having sex that couldn't make a baby. "Hate the sin, love the sinner' was the guiding mantra. It was something with which one might in conscience disagree. But it wasn't in itself an expression of homophobia. Heterosexuals weren't allowed to have sex without intending to make babies either.
For many of us in the church, this meant that sex as part of a committed gay relationship was no more sinful than a straight married couple using contraception--which is to say that many gay Catholics were in no worse a place than most straight Catholics. Most of us learned to tune out the church hierarchy on sexual matters and to live as moral a life as we could. Once it became clear that the hierarchy was also complicit in mass child rape, its moral authority on sexual matters became even more threadbare.
But that has now changed. The Vatican under Benedict XVI has declared that even celibate gay men are unfit for the priesthood, unworthy to serve God. It has declared that gayness itself is immoral, a psychological disorder that renders even celibate homosexuals moral lepers. Do not be fooled by the spin. The only exception the Vatican makes is for those who may have had temporary same-sex desires in adolescence but have overcome them. Translation: heterosexuals who had passing same-sex urges as teenagers. Gays as such need no longer apply.

There 'was' a book published by DOUBLEDAY about 5-6 years ago, I think, that was written about the origins of gold and Everett was an assistant writer / helper to compile the exotic Infomation in worthy, publishable form as well as Editing it. The author's Name was Goldblatt or Goldberg, Goodman or some such. I'm sorry I'm unable to remember. Well done book though; he lives out on Sebonic Pond on Long Island, N.Y. the Hamptons. Everett was one of the most brilliant Editors ever to hold down a top desk at Harcourt - Brace publishers on 3rd Ave., N.Y. A Haavid Grad.( humble beginnings in New Jersey) with a multitude of admirers, and links to CamBridge and Oxford. The Sorbonne as well. A gentleman's Gentleman.

Many have long suspected that Osama bin Laden couldn't have orchestrated what are viewed instead as being "false-flag" attacks. Logic tells me that the real beneficiaries of war in Afghanistan and Iraq are the American munitions manufacturers, oil corporations and drug cartels, along with the international neocon agenda which favors Israel and Zionism over any Muslim interests.
But even more disturbing than doubts about the agency and authorship of the attacks is newer research which calls into question what actually took place that day. One theory gaining ground suggests that no planes were used in the September 11th attacks. Instead, what we all think we saw live on television of a second plane crashing into a World Trade Center tower was an example of video fakery and mass market manipulation.
Such a theory is founded on a presumption that corporate media interests will go beyond just merely spinning news into a more or less favorable light for a specific purpose or benefit, but instead will conspire with the governing authorities, or other powerful interests, to fundamentally alter reports---by telling lies and concealing true events, and through creating alternate simulacrums of reality pursue selfish plans and self-serving agendas.
Another theory suggests that many or most of the 3000 victims who were said to have perished on 9/11, were either entirely computer simulated victim identities---or, if they were provable persons with verifiable histories, they underwent mock deaths with enforced relocation, with their funerals being public relations scams, as was spelled out in a Joint Chiefs of Staff plan from the 1960's, Operation Northwoods.
The effectiveness of the psychological operation launched on September 11th, was predicated on a collective imprinting of mass trauma and victimization, which gave rise to a nearly universal view that we had legitimate grounds for retaliation. America's invasion of Afghanistan to catch Osama bin Laden drew support around the world---except for the Taliban, who demanded proof of any involvement before they would turn him over.
So central to the myth of 9/11 is this component of innocent suffering that it is difficult to formulate any proofs that might conclusively call into doubt the reality of these victims as victims, or clearly label their survivors as being legitimate family members and not agents or operatives acting out roles.

The September 11 Digital Archive is a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution, the Museum of the City of New York, New-York Historical Society, City Lore: New York Center for Urban Folk Culture, the City University of New York’s American Social History Project, and George Mason University’s Center for History and New Media (2002a).
While visiting Ground Zero for the first time this past week, I had the honor of seeing Bear, the rescue dog. I'm told he was the only dog which was able to find a survivor in the aftermath of 9/11. Because of the ash and dust he inhaled during the search, he is not in the best of health currently. This photo was taken at the Ground Zero viewing area on the south side on Sept 4, 2002.
This was taken on Middagh St. located in Brooklyn Heights, NY. It is the location of the firehouse that lost eight men from Ladder 118, the entire company. This was on a memorial outside the house. I believe Leon was one of the firefighters lost on 9/11. The letter appears to be from a child who lived near the firehouse. My name is Wes Meadows, my fiance and I were in NYC the weekend before September 11. We decided to extend our stay and were planning on leaving the morning of the 11th. My fiance met with a colleague for breakfast that morning and while I was busy packing, I saw the first reports on the news. I couldn't believe what was happening and when the second plane struck, all my thoughts turned to finding my fiance and ensuring she was ok. Cell phones were not working and I became frantic wondering if she was ok. I didn't know whether to stay in the hotel or leave to try and find her. Finally, she arrived shortly after the first tower fell and my fears for her safety were calmed. We decided we needed to head to the towers to offer any help we could. I am a former Army Captain and felt it was somehow my duty. We got to Canal and Broadway just after the second tower collapsed. As we were standing there just looking (police were not letting anyone go south), I looked at a billboard across the street. I decided to take a picture of it, the eeriness of it made us both cry. The picture is of a movie advertisement for the Schwatzeneggar movie "Collateral Damage" with the smoke from the towers billowing behind. I thought it would be an appropriate picture to contribute to this archive. Although we did not directly lose anyone our lives were deeply touched, I am from Boston (where the planes took off from), we were in New York, and we live outside Washington D.C. it seemed all the places that are close to us were directly involved in the tragedy. While doing so, I saw an American flag haphazardly anchored onto a protruding steel girder by some of the rescue workers. It was then that the similarity between this flag rising and what had occurred at MT Surabachi struck me. This is to my knowledge the very first flag raising at the WTC site. The irony of this, is that much like the first flag raising, the flag raising which displayed the firemen, was actually the second one."

My name is Mark and my friend Joey worked on the 105th floor of No 1 World Trade Center. After September 11, I put his "missing" flyer all over the streets of this changed city, choosing my spots as if I were painting graffiti, looking for the best light, the easiest places to see my friend's face.
At 26th Street and Lex, next to the Armory, strangers were nice to me, saying, "Hope you find your friend."I just thanked them and kept looking for more places where Joey's smile would catch people's eyes. It felt good to be doing something, not just sitting and mourning.
Joey and I met when we were five. His mother watched us every day after school before my parents came home from work. We went to school together for 11 years, and all those years I watched him. He was the coolest guy. I felt like the dorky kid he took under his wing. He showed me a lot of things, how to look cool, how to talk to girls. His father, a Vietnam vet and a retired FDNY fire fighter, helped me learn how to ride a bike. That was the first thing his father asked me when we hugged each other, "Can you still ride a bike, Marc?"
Joey leaves behind his beloved family, girlfriend, and friends like me, lots of us. He will never know how many lives he touched. I have cried so much that I have become empty inside. My childhood hero has been stolen from me, and I will miss him forever.

This is a picture of the Pentagon around noon on September 11, 2001, from a hill right outside my condominium building, which is about 3/4 mile from the Pentagon. I used a 500 mm lens. My office at the time was down the street, even closer to the Pentagon, when the plane hit. We heard jet engines, and then an explosion. Then came the fire engines. We saw people outside looking up. We went outside, and there was a huge cloud of roiling black smoke coming up from the direction of the Pentagon. (The view of the actual Pentagon building is blocked from that location by an elevated highway) debris was falling from the sky (perhaps it was blasted upwards in the explosion and was on its way down). Women were crying and screaming. The husband of a woman who worked in my office worked in the Pentagon and she was hysterical (he was not injured). We were told to evacuate away from the direction of the Pentagon and to hide our government badges. I walked to my car. Normally a five-minute drive, it took twenty-five. It was a scary, dream-like experience.

I was at the Pentagon early on, and the photos taken an hour or so later, when the media had been pushed much further back, don't convey the destruction of the attack. The Pentagon itself is so huge, the gap blown in it looks small by comparison. What was really stunning, standing there, was that there was no sign of the plane itself. This was a big plane with a lot of local people in it, people from my neighborhood, and it hit that building so hard it seems to have vanished into nothing.

People in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC read the thoughts and reflections that others left on an impromptu memorial shrine erected on the corner of Columbia Road and 18th Street NW within days after the attacks of 9 11.
This is a sequence of pictures of downtown with the WTC beginning on the evening of September 10th after a powerful thunderstorm had passed. I watched the first plane fly downtown and collide with the north tower and almost immediately began to take pictures. These are selected for the significant moments they show.

September 11, 2001: 9:03a.m. - I was directly across the street from the WTC, witnessing person after person jump from the upper floors of WTC 1. As I'm watching this in horror, I can hear another plane approaching. When it struck, I ducked for cover. After the massive explosion subsided, I gathered enough composure to take this shot of WTC 2.
